Sworn translator systems and standards differ from country to country.
In Turkey, a translator who wants to provide a sworn translation service is required to provide evidence that he or she is competent to perform the tasks relevant to the languages in question and swear an oath before a public notary in order to become a sworn translator. This process must be carried out before a judge and for those wanting to become a sworn interpreter.
In the UK, similar translation services are provided by members of ITI while interpreting services are provided both by members of the ITI and other interpreting institutions.
