Sworn translation means an officially acceptable translation done by a professional translator. The concepts of sworn translations do not exist in the UK and other civil law countries. Nevertheless, you may be asked to provide a translation certified by a professional translator who is a Qualified Member of a The Institute of Translation & Interpreting (ITI), which is the only dedicated association for practicing translation and interpreting professionals in UK. Qualified Members should attach a special seal or a sticker for confirmation of his/her membership of the ITI.
In Turkey competent translators and interpreters swear an oath before the notary public or the court or and become a sworn translator or sworn interpreter. They usually then work for that court or notary public. Sworn translations performed by sworn translators are attested by the affiliated notary public.
